2020 Harvest: updating from the vineyards

(…read here previous episodes)  Harvest is still on: we harvested about 5,000 quintals of grapes over 100 hectares – low yields (less than 45 quintals/hectare) our FORECAST is confirmed. There are approximately 50 hectares of Sangiovese, Cabernet and Petit Verdot still to pick.

We started to harvest the best Sangiovese grapes for our  Riserva Chianti Classico:  great SATISFACTION, the Sangiovese grapes are still healthy and beautiful, despite the repeated rains.

The CONCERN is fairly represented by the water-soaked soil, in some vineyards we cannot use grape harvesters, as planned, we will have to hand pick more hectares. The harvest will last longer than expected.

The DISAPPOINTMENT for the damage caused by the July hailstorm that has ruined the quality of 2/3 of the grapes from our vineyards in Cerbaiola site(San Donato in Poggio).
